6-6 Zion Williamson of Spartanburg Day who was thought to be looking at a spring signing, said Thursday he hopes to pick his college before the season so that he can get the process behind him. Williamson drew a large crowd of coaches to Spartanburg for the Adidas Gauntlet AAU tournament and scored 31 points in his first game. He told GoGamecocks.com he’s still looking at several schools, including USC and Clemson. He said likely official visits will be to Kansas, UCLA and Arizona. North Carolina and Duke also are strongly in the picture.
DB Kwantel Raines of Aliquippa, PA includeD USC on his short list and plans to announce in October. The others are Pitt, Penn State, Maryland, Kentucky and West Virginia.
USC target DB Jaycee Horn of Alpharetta, GA confirmed Thursday night his decision to delay his commitment. He’s also considering Alabama and Tennessee.
Clemson target WR Justyn Ross of Phenix City, AL is competing in a major 7 on 7 event in Hoover, AL and he told AL.com that he will visit Alabama for a cookout July 21st and not Clemson’s cookout the same day. He also can’t make Auburn’s event July 22nd because of a 7 on 7 tournament. He plans to visit Clemson, Florida and Florida State at some point. He said Clemson, Alabama and Auburn are recruiting him the hardest.
2019 DE Latrell Jean of Lakeland, FL plans to visit USC Friday.
2021 QB Ridge Jacobs of Jacksonville, FL plans to workout for USC coaches at their camp July 21st, the day after attending a camp at Florida. He’s considered to be a young quarterback with the potential to develop into a Power Five level player. His father went to Irmo High School.
