The official statement from USC on Chad Holbrook’s departure was that Holbrook “resigned” to pursue other opportunities. Most everyone understands that in this context “resigned” is a euphemism for being fired. That said, Ray Tanner Wednesday, was pressed a few times by our own Phil Kornblut on that if it was, in fact, a resignation, did it mean that perhaps Holbrook had a chance to return? Did it Tanner try to talk Holbrook out of resigning?
Take a listen to the mashup of those questions that were asked at different points during Tanner’s almost 30 minute news conference. You have to admire both Kornblut’s tenacity and Tanner’s ability to avoid answering the question.
