After a disappointing regular season USC baseball coach Chad Holbrook has landed on a pretty hot seat. If the Gamecocks don’t go on a major run in the SEC Tournament the Gamecocks will miss the postseason for the second time in three years. That will be a tough pill for fans to swallow, especially considering the high standard Ray Tanner set before handing the program over to his top assistant five seasons ago.
What happens to Holbrook at seasons end remains to be seen, but in the interim he’s only focused on making sure his team is prepared for the SEC Tournament. Hoover has historically been a nightmare venue for Gamecock baseball. Holbrook is 0-7 all-time there since taking over. He will need to string together some wins there this week to extend the Gamecocks season and, perhaps, his coaching tenure in Columbia.
