Clemson remains a factor with DB Verone McKinley II of Plano, TX. The Tigers are in regular contact and McKinley said secondary coach Mike Reed is planning to scout him during spring practice this month.
“I definitely really like Clemson, still high on them,” McKinley said. “I’m kind of seeing what’s what and trying to make sure I make the right decision. He sees me coming in being like a Mackensie Alexander, being able to cover well and be a leader as well, bring energy. I like them a lot. They play good defense and have been successful in the past few years. I like Coach Swinney and what he’s doing at Clemson. He’s graduating is players, something he preaches a lot.”
McKinley has visited Clemson twice so far and doesn’t have any plans for another visit at this point. Clemson is on his short list with Alabama, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Texas A&M and UCLA.
McKinley this spring has visited Texas A&M and Oklahoma. He will take more visits but none are scheduled.
He will graduate early and plans to announce in May, possibly at his spring game May 25th.
