Highly recruited RB Lyn-J Dixon of Butler, GA made an unofficial visit to Clemson Friday afternoon. He got a look at the new facilities and checked out some of the academic opportunities.
He also watched the early part of practice and before leaving he chatted briefly with running backs coach Tony Elliott and recruiter Robbie Caldwell.
“It went well, I really enjoyed it,” Dixon said. “The tutoring part really stood out. They practiced but I didn’t stay very long. I can see that they get after it.”
Dixon has a distinguished offer list that includes USC, Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Missouri, Florida, Alabama, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Louisville, Minnesota, LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Texas and Indiana. Clemson is showing interest but is not ready to step up with an offer.
“I said hey to Coach Elliott and Coach Caldwell and we had a little side conversation,” Dixon said. “Coach Elliott said to be patient, that he doesn’t rush into giving offers.”
Dixon also has been to Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia Tech and Georgia. He is planning to visit USC, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas, Notre, Dame, Ole Miss, LSU, Michigan and Oklahoma State, and another visit to Florida, in the weeks ahead.
Dixon said the Gamecocks have been on him strongly since offering and remain a factor with him.
“They really want me to come up here and check things out, so I’m trying to get me a date to check things. They are looking into me and showing a lot of interest.”
Dixon said he does not have a favorite right now and will released a top list of schools early in his season. He could announce in November or December or wait until Signing Day.
Last season Dixon rushed for 1985 yards and 35 touchdowns.
