2019 DB Akele Pauling of Ben Lippen made the short drive over the USC Tuesday to watch the Gamecocks practice and got the chance to talk with the coaches while there. “The visit was great. Loved the tempo and way they practice. Also, I talked to some of the players and coaches, they were all great. They really like what I can give them at cornerback, but as of right now, no offer until the summer, hopefully, if I do really well there. They invited me to come back to the camp.” Pauling said he will visit Virginia Tech in a couple of months.
Greenwood WR Sam Pinckney picked up an offer from Wake Forest.
Byrnes WR Demarcus Gregory picked up an offer from Missouri.
2020 QB Clay Vance of Washington, DC will be at Clemson’s junior day Saturday.
Clemson Tuesday night offered 6-10 Mbacke Diong of Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, FL.
6-11 Brandon Stone of Alverton, PA made an unofficial visit to USC Tuesday night. However, it’s likely Stone is going to go to a prep school next fall and reclassify for the 2019 class. “He was very impressed, was able to talk with Coach Martin for about 30 minutes after the game and he toured the facilities. He really liked it, said Stone’s AAU coach Tom Droney of Bridge City Basketball. Stone has seven offers from low to mid-major programs but is now also drawing interest from Maryland, Pitt, West Virginia, Penn State, Butler, Dayton, Kansas State and Wichita State. “They think with the added year of development (most importantly strength) he could really burst onto the scene this spring and summer,” his coach said. “It can only help him because he has all the tools at 6’11. He needs to add muscle and get his grades in order. And yes they (USC) will be watching Brandon closely this summer.”
