DB Johnathan Abram of Jones County JC, MS made the first start of his college career last September against USC when he was with the Georgia Bulldogs. The Dogs won that day 52-20 and as a safety Abram made four tackles. Abram is now considering the Gamecocks along with several others as he considers his next college stop. So in a bit of a twist on the famous phrase, if you CAN beat them, join them.
But a decision from Abram appears to be a ways off. He admits he’s not put a lot of thought into this re-recruiting process.
“Honestly I haven’t looked into nothing, I’ve just been having fun and working out,” Abram said. “Me and Coach Muschamp talk every day. He just texted me while a go. He’s just saying how much they need me and stuff like that.”
Abram said he’s planning to visit USC “probably” on July 23rd along with his brother Aaron who also has a USC offer. That’s the day USC is holding its final social gathering of the recruiting season for targeted prospects. Abram said he likes Muschamp and his interest in the Gamecocks at this point is “pretty high.” He’s also hearing from LSU, Alabama, Mississippi State, Colorado State, “like a lot of people.”
Abram said he will visit Alabama July 17th and LSU probably July 21st. He doesn’t expect to make his decision until after his season and he will be graduating in December.
Abram is a native of Columbia, MS and when he signed with Georgia he had Ole Miss and Louisville as his other top schools.
