DE Matthew Butler of Garner, NC said Tuesday he has narrowed his focus even more from where it was in June when he was looking at eight schools. Butler said right now he’s zeroing in on USC, Tennessee, NC State, North Carolina and Duke. Butler visited USC in June and on Tuesday he was on the phone with Gamecock head coach Will Muschamp.
“He really emphasized face to face with me how I fit into their scheme and stuff like that, the technical stuff” Butler said. “Now he’s just communicating details about the school and the want and need for me as a player.”
Butler said he’s looking at some dates for return visits to USC this summer and this fall. He has no timetable on a decision but said it could be done before the season.
Butler added that all five schools are recruiting him the same and there’s no leader at this point.
“I felt like if I had a leader I probably would commit to the leader,” he said. “The factors are just being great in the classroom and on the field and improving my maturity level as a man. I’m just looking for the school that’s going to put me in the best position to play in the NFL and to further my world career.”
