Coastal Carolina survived elimination game one for them Thursday night at the College World Series with a 7-5 win over Texas Tech. The Chanticleers face their second elimination game Friday night against TCU. Should they win that one, the teams will meet again Saturday for the right to advance to the championship series starting Monday night.
The Chants overcame a three run deficit with a three run third inning. They added three more in the fifth for a 7-3 lead. Mike Morrison came out of the pen early and kept the Red Raiders at bay until tiring in the seventh after throwing 83 pitches. Bobby Holmes finished up the final 2.1 innings.
Unheralded catcher David Parrett, who was batting .130 going in, had two hits and three RBIs to spark the offense.
The Chanticleers will start their ace Andrew Beckwith Friday night. He hurled a complete game in Sunday night’s win over Florida.
