Clemson has high hopes of pulling highly regarded receiver Tee Higgins of Oak Ridge, TN out of his home state as they have his close friend WR Amari Rodgers of Knoxville and RB Cordarrion Richardson of Memphis for the 2017 class and DB Mike Jones Jr. of Nashville for the 2018 class. But the Tigers still have work to do as Higgins still is leaning to the home state team.
“Tennessee is still #1 right now,” Higgins said. “It’s kind of close. Clemson, Tennessee and Ohio State are the top three right now.” Higgins also is still considering Florida State and Ole Miss. He said Dabo Swinney and Jeff Scott came at him with a lot of energy and a hard push from a recruiting standpoint and the visit did help Clemson’s cause.
As for the camp experience this time at Clemson, Higgins said it went well for him and was pretty fun.
“I was just doing my work with Coach Scott doing some of the receiver drills,” he said. “I think I performed pretty good. I just came off an injury (hamstring) so I wasn’t exactly full speed, but I think I performed pretty good coming off the injury.”
Tennessee has been the only other visit for Higgins so far this summer but he’s supposed to visit Ohio State in July. He said he’s not sure when he’ll make his decision.
Higgins also is a major basketball prospect but did not meet with any Clemson basketball coaches this week. And he said he’s not yet sure if he’ll sign for football and basketball. He said basketball is still “kind of” important in his decision making process.
