Amongst the prospects to file thru Clemson last week was DB Mike Carter (5-11 175) of Douglasville, GA. Carter is a safety in high school but can also play corner. He holds offers from Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Missouri, Illinois, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Appalachian State.
“Clemson visit went great,” Carter said. “Everyone was very kind to me and my family and as soon as I got in the building I felt that family feel that they emphasize so much at Clemson. Clemson is definitely a school I’m considering especially after that visit I just felt good there.”
Last season Carter totaled 78 tackles with one interception. He said the Tigers think he can be an excellent player for them at corner.
“They mostly play 4-3 they said so coach (Mike) Reed said he pretty much envisioned me as playing a boundary corner for them because of the way I play which is physical,’ Carter said. “I’m versatile. I’m good at coming down hill and tackling. I’m fast and have good ball skills. He said though because of my versatility that I could play anywhere, really, in the secondary.”
Carter also has been to Mississippi State this summer. Monday he will be at USC and will also visit North Carolina, Duke and Georgia.
Carter said he doesn’t have any favorites at this point and also doesn’t have a timetable on a decision.
