Clemson Tuesday joined the long list of suitors for DB Tre Shaw of Ellenwood, GA. And he was glad to add the Tigers’ offer to his board.
“I’m very happy, I’ve been waiting on that offer for awhile,” Shaw said. “I always liked Clemson growing up as a child. They did very well this year and they are losing a lot of guys in the secondary.”
Marion Hobby is recruiting Shaw for Clemson and was by the school on Tuesday. He and Shaw also talked on the phone over the weekend.
Shaw said Clemson originally checked on him during his sophomore year but thought he was a lock for Auburn and dropped the contact. He did not hear from Clemson at all during his junior season but now the Tigers are firmly involved with him.
“They didn’t lose interest but they did believe I was going to commit to Auburn,” Shaw explained. “I’m reconstructing my list right now and they are probably going to be high up there.”
USC also remains a major player with Shaw and he visited there earlier in the spring. He said he hears regularly from recruiter Travaris Robinson.
“He wants me, and Coach Muschamp,” Shaw said. “I’m on top of their list.” Robinson has also been thru the school this spring.
Shaw said he will visit North Carolina in June for the Freak Show and will also travel with his team to several camps including stops at USC and Clemson.
Shaw said there is no favorite at this point.
“They are all good schools with good programs and they all need help,” he said. “It’s not overwhelming but it’s going to be a hard decision for me. I’m still reconstructing my top 10, or a top 5.” Shaw said he’ll release that list sometime during the summer.
His newest offers are from Georgia Tech, Maryland, Southern Miss, Purdue, Kansas State and Missouri. He also has Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, NC State, Auburn and Florida offers.
