Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables does a lot of his recruiting work in the Northeast and he recently was in New Jersey to check on DB Markquese Bell of Bridgeton. The Tigers have offered along with Florida, Georgia, Penn State, Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Temple, NC State, Tennessee, Ole Miss and others. Bell said Venables has invited him to come down and check things out.
“He just wants to get me down to the school so I can see it for myself,” said Bell who has never visited Clemson. “He doesn’t really want to say too much. He just wants me to see it for myself. I’m planning to get down in June or in the summer time.”
Bell has done some homework on Clemson and sees a secondary that will need some fresh blood in the future.
“It’s a good opportunity,” he said. “It’s a lot of openings in their depth chart for a guy like me to come in and play. I just still want to get down there and see the school.”
Others to come thru during the evaluation period include Ohio State, Maryland, Rutgers and Michigan. Tennessee and Ole Miss are his most recent offers. Bell has visited Michigan, Penn State, Maryland, Rutgers, Temple, Florida and NC State this spring.
Bell said he doesn’t have any favorites right now and he could wait as late as Signing Day before coming up with a decision.
