USC is showing recruiting strength in South Florida and the Gamecocks currently lead for DB Rennard Bozeman (5-11 173) of Lauderdale Lakes. Gamecock defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson is handling that part of the recruiting map and has worked his way into a positive position with several recruits, including Bozeman.
“I have a lot of relationships with the coaching, we talk every day almost,” Bozeman said. “I also talk to some of the players who are there and they seem to have a good time. I know a lot of people there. The stadium is hectic and it’s a great place to play football.”
Robinson, who also serves as USC’s secondary coach, has pinpointed Bozeman as a cornerback and apparently sees him as a shutdown cover man.
“He likes how I’m a physical, smart player, always locked in,” Bozeman said. “I like what (Will Muschamp) is doing. It’s a good opportunity for me if I go there.”
Bozeman has not yet visited USC but plans to do so he second week in June. He said despite favoring the Gamecocks right now, he’s not at the point where he’s thinking of a commitment. He has Mississippi State second on his list, not too far behind USC, and he also likes Kentucky and Arkansas. But he said the Gamecocks are recruiting him the hardest. His only visit this spring has been to LSU. Bozeman is looking at making his decision during the first month of his season.
Last season he had about 40 tackles and 3 interceptions.
