Frank Martin would like to bring Dave Dickerson back to the Palmetto State. The Olar native bolted South Carolina out of high school and went on to a stellar career at Maryland. Since then he’s become a well regarded assistant coach and a former head coach at Tulane. He’s currently an assistant under Thad Matta at Ohio State. Martin would like Dickerson to add “USC assistant” to the list of schools resume.
The BigSpur.com was the first to report Dickerson was in town Wednesday. A source told SportsTalk Dickerson stayed overnight and left Thursday. He is one of three candidates Martin has one his list, but, according to the source, he’s the top guy on that list. The source said it is unlikely a deal will get done before the end of the week, but next week is possible.
Martin is replacing Lamont Evans, who left to join Brad Underwood’s staff at Oklahoma State.
