Saturday evening legendary North Carolina basketball head coach Dean Smith died at the age of 83. Smith’s accomplishments are abundant and well known, including 11 Final Four appearances and national titles in 1982 and 1993.
Monday night, the first ever player from the state of South Carolina to sign a letter of intent to play at UNC, Larry Davis, joined us on the show to provide some local insight into who Dean Smith was.
Davis played two seasons at UNC, and was a part of the 93 title team, before transferring to USC to finish his playing career.
Davis is a now a coach himself, leading the Northwestern program following two seasons at Lewisville, where he won a state championship.
