OL Patrick Allen (6-5 285) of Reisterstown, MD decommitted from Georgia last weekend while attending the Semper Fidelis All American Game in California and is now looking at several other schools including USC. The Gamecocks offered Allen last week.
“It kind of caught me off guard when I got the offer,” Allen said. “I’ve always liked South Carolina. They’ve got a good program going. But, I’ve never been there.”
And that’s the rub for the Gamecocks in this case. Allen already has taken his five official visits…Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan, Tennessee and Arkansas.
“I”m going to try to get down for a visit,” said Allen whose top four are Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma and LSU. Texas Tech also is showing strong interest.
“My plan is to possibly visit these places and get a look at the programs, the coaching staffs and the area and make the decision from there,” Allen said. “I’m going to wait until Signing Day.”
Allen said he is a 3.7 student and wants to major in engineering. He expects to talk again with USC this week.
