As we head into the first weekend of the off season, the season for coaching rumors and reports rolls on. USC coach Steve Spurrier is not confirming anything publicly about interest in former Florida coach Will Muschamp, but we’re told that a Muschamp to USC scenario is not out of the question.
As of Friday afternoon, we’re told USC has climbed into a 50-50 position with Auburn for Muschamp’s services. That’s a big move up the ladder for USC considering as recently as yesterday a number of reports had Muschamp practically moving to The Plains.
“South Carolina has closed the gap, I’m sure of that,” we’re told by a knowledgeable source. “I think it’s 50-50 with Auburn and South Carolina. It will be next week before anything significant breaks.”
In the meantime, Steve Spurrier recruits, Will Muschamp vacations in the Dominican Republic and Gamecock Nation is left to wonder.
