There’s been a bevy of reports linking Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris to the head coaching job at SMU this week and he addressed those stories Saturday, shortly after a win over USC. He confirmed that he’s been in contact with the Mustangs, but denied there is a deal.
“I had to check Twitter this morning to see where I was, Morris said. “Everyone had me everywhere else and everybody else seems to know what was going on. But I haven’t agreed to anything with SMU. When that time comes, believe me we will come out and say what needs to be said.”
Morris said he has met with SMU, but reiterated he has not agreed to a deal.
“I’ve spoken with them, yes. But I haven’t agreed to anything. …If in fact that is part of the plan, and we will meet in the near future, and we’ll go from there. But I haven’t agreed to anything.
I love Clemson. I have been here for four years, I love our fans and what they mean to college football. We have the best fan base in college football. We all know I have a goal; I’d love to be a head coach one day. When and where, we will find out soon enough if its part of the plan.”
