Clemson started the second half with the ball. Their first drive started on their own 25. The Tigers drove to the Wake Forest 21 before the drive stalled. They settled for a field goal, a 39 yarder that was hit by Amman Lakip. That made it 20-17 Clemson with 10:11 left in the third quarter. 12-54-4:49 off the clock for Clemson on that drive.
Wake Forest started its first drive of the second half on its own 20. The Deacons drove to the Tigers 37, but couldn’t get any closer. They tried a 54 yard field goal that was well short. Clemson took over with 6:46 to play in the quarter.
Clemson put another solid drive together on its ensuing possession, but failed to put any points on the board. The Tigers drove to the nine yard line where they faced a 4th-1. Instead of going for a field goal the Tigers went for it and didn’t convert. In fact, they lost eight yards and Wake took over on the 17.
Wake Forest came up about a half yard short of converting a third down and punted after three plays. They ended up with a whale of a punt, too. The wind aided punt was downed at the Clemson 1 yard line. It was a 73 yard punt.
