Clemson’s offense did not have its best stuff Saturday night against Syracuse, but luckily for the Tigers their defense came to play. The Tigers scored a 16-6 win in which the Orange managed just 170 yards and didn’t reach the end zone. Their points came on a pair of field goals.
The Clemson offense sputtered all night long and didn’t score a touchdown until early in the fourth quarter. That was just the Tigers 3rd touchdown over the last 13 quarters.
Cole Stoudt threw two interceptions and was generally off target on the majority of his down the field throws. He completed 24 throws but only for an average of 8.9 yards per completion. Most of his success were the quick swing passes to the receivers.
Clemson did generate some running game. The Tigers rushed for 166 yards with Wayne Gallman gaining 101 yards, the first Tiger to go over 100 yards this season.
