Junior DL Malik Walker (6-2 265) visited Clemson for the Louisville game and with Grady Jarrett departing after this season, the Tigers view Walker as the perfect replacement a couple of seasons down the road.
“Coach Swinney said they are high on me,” Walker said. “He said, just watch Jarrett. He said I could be like the next Jarrett. I could see myself playing there.”
Jarrett holds offers from Clemson, UCLA, Tennessee, Nebraska and Georgia Tech. The Tigers, Vols and Bruins are his three favorites with Nebraska just behind. He has been to Clemson and Georgia this season.
“I loved it,” he said of the Clemson visit. “I feel like I can play there. I like what coach Venables is doing.” Walker plans to return to Clemson for the USC game.
Last season Jarrett had 57 tackles with 8 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss. This season he’s at 25 tackles with 5 sacks and 1 rushing touchdown.
Walker wears uniform #7 and he’s trying to live up to a recent star in the Palmetto State who made that digit famous.
“I want to be like (Jadeveon) Clowney,” Walker said. “That’s a man.”
