Clemson has one commitment for the 2016 class in TE JC Chalk. Saturday they will added commitment #2.
QB Zerrick Cooper of Jonesboro, GA said Wednesday night he’s decided to commit to Clemson while on a visit with his parents Saturday, has informed the coaches of his plans, and everybody is on board.
‘It’s because of the relationship I have with coach Morris and coach Swinney that I won’t find anywhere else,” said Cooper who suffered a torn ACL in the second game of the season. “We talk almost every week and they’ve stuck with me thru the injury.”
As a sophomore Cooper passed for 1200 yards and 7 touchdowns and he envisions doing some great things in Clemson’s offense.
“Their offense is very explosive and I see myself running the offense like Deshaun Watson,” Cooper said. “They run the spread and that’s one of my favorite offenses to run. I love to throw the ball. I throw the ball to the playmakers and make big plays.”
Cooper has another season of high school to go so when he gets to Clemson Watson will be in his third, and likely, final season. So, from Cooper’s standpoint, the timing is perfect.
“When I commit there I’m going to redshirt and when he leaves I can go in and take his position,” he said.
As for his recovery from his knee injury, Cooper said he’s right on schedule.
“I’m going to come back stronger than ever,” he said. “The recovery is going well.”
