USC was the first school to offer 2016 DB James Valdez of Lake Marion and he’s very appreciative. Valdez twice has visited USC this fall.
“I went to the Missouri game last weekend and I was at (the) Georgia (game too,” he said. “It’s always great being at Carolina. They were the first to offer me and that means a lot to me. I’m not taking it lightly.”
That being said, Valdez is taking his recruitment very slowly.
“I don’t want to make any decisions right now and I want a chance to look at all of the schools showing me interest,” Valdez said. “Carolina is showing me a lot of love and I love it there.”
His other offers are from NC State, North Carolina and Tennessee with interest coming from Clemson, Georgia, Wake Forest, Virginia and Oregon.
“Clemson kind of put me on the map,” Valdez said. “I went to camp there this summer and did really well. The word got out, I think, and when I went to Carolina, I had another good camp. That’s when they offered me. “I always like going down there (USC). It’s always really loud and intense and the coaches and players treat you like you’re one of them.”
Valdez is looking to visit NC State and Georgia this fall but has not scheduled either visit. He is also showing interest in Clemson. “I don’t know if they’re going to offer or not, but if they do, I’ll be really excited about it,” he said. “If they don’t, I’ll understand. It’s a great school.”
Through four games, Valdez has five interceptions, returning two for touchdowns, and has three forced fumbles. He has four offensive touchdowns and has returned a kick for another score.
He does not have any favorites.
