Clemson coach Dabo Swinney saw Jameis Winston burn his defense for 444 passing yards last season. It’s doubtful Winston will do that again. If he does, he will have had the greatest passing half in the history of football.
Because he will be seated on the sideline for the first half Saturday night serving a suspension, Winston will only have 30 minutes to torment the Tigers. Sophomore Sean McGuire, a big pocket passer with a big arm, will replace him.
One might think the Tigers would be falling all over themselves in anticipation of this first half opportunity and would make a number of defensive adjustments to account for the quarterback change. Not so said Dabo Swinney after Wednesday’s practice.
Las Vegas had adjusted its thinking on the game. The Tigers opened as 22 point underdogs. The line is now down to 16.5
