Current USC commit junior ATH Kyle Davis of Lawrenceville, GA planned to attend the Gamecocks’ home game against Georgia Saturday but has had to scratch those plans. “Something came up,” Davis said.
However, Davis does plan a visit to USC in the near future. “I definitely want to get up there for a game soon,” Davis said. “I wish I could have gone this weekend but it’s not going to work out.”
Davis said his commitment to the Gamecocks has not deterred other schools from continuing to recruit him.
“On September 1st (the day after the dead period), my Twitter and Facebook blew up,” he said. “Every day, when I get home from school, my mailbox is full of letters from just about everybody.”
He called his commitment to USC strong but said he will take other visits.
“I plan on taking all five of my official visits,” Davis said. “I don’t know where I’m going but I know USC will be one of them.” He named Georgia and Florida State as two schools that continue to show a lot of interest.
Davis has yet to attend any games this season and does not have any scheduled visits.
He said that USC is recruiting him as a wide receiver and a tight end and added that he prefers the wide receiver position. His offers include USC, Miami, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Louisville and Boston College.
He caught 37 passes for over 700 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore and has eight catches for over 200 yards this season.
