There is no doubt Clemson will field one of the nation’s best defenses in 2014. The Tigers return virtually every starter from a unit that led the nation in tackles for loss with 122 including 38 sacks. Players who made over 96% of those tackles for loss will be back this season. And their are 12 returning lettermen on the defensive line alone.
No doubt the star of the unit again this season will be senior defensive end Vic Beasley. He earned consensus All American honors after totaling 23 tackles for loss and 13 sacks.
Sunday Beasley talked with SportsTalk about his surprising success at a position he did not expect to play in college and his expectations for this season’s defense.
The Tigers do lose two linebackers and both starting cornerbacks from last season but the feeling around their camp is they have sufficiently replaced the departed players with some talented young players.
