The SoCon’s 14-game package includes eight games scheduled for ESPN3 and an additional six contests presented over the newly formed American Sports Network (ASN), an initiative launched by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, which includes Upstate affiliate WMYA (My40).
Furman will kick off the league broadcast slate with its Sept. 6 SoCon season opener at Mercer, set to be carried by ESPN3.
The Paladins will make their 2014 ASN debut on Sept. 27 when they entertain Western Carolina. Kickoff for that matchup is now 3:30 p.m.
Furman renews its SoCon rivalry against VMI on Nov. 1 with a contest scheduled to be carried by ESPN3, and the Paladins’ noon Nov. 15 home clash against Wofford is also set to be carried by ESPN3.
Furman’s Nov. 22 regular season finale against Chattanooga, now set for 3:30 p.m. at Paladin Stadium, will be shown on ASN and conclude the SoCon’s 2014 football broadcast slate.
Darren Goldwater returns to handle primary play-by-play duties for the league’s broadcasts. The 2014-15 year will mark Goldwater’s fourth year on the Conference package.
Former NFL linebacker Corey Miller will handle color commentary duties. Miller, who currently serves as sports anchor and host with WACH-TV in Columbia, S.C., played collegiately at the University of South Carolina before spending nine years with the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings.
ESPN3 is available in approximately 75 million homes to fans who receive their Internet connection from an affiliated service provider. The network is also accessible at no cost to 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel. ESPN3 programming is also available to subscribers through Xbox LIVE and through the free WatchESPN app on smartphones and tablets. The WatchESPN app is also available through Apple TV and Roku video players.
