Pound for pound the state of South Carolina produces some of the best baseball in the country at the collegiate level. Even in 2014 when both the Clemson and USC programs failed to make it out of their respective regional tournaments, a program like The College of Charleston advanced to a Super Regional tournament.
Now that every program from the state has bowed out, we’ve been lining up the head coaches from each of the three squads that played postseason baseball this season. Earlier in the week we heard from CofC’s Monte Lee and Clemson’s Jack Leggett.
Tonight was USC head coach Chad Holbrook’s turn to wrap up the 2014 campaign with SportsTalk.
Holbrook first addressed the news that he’ll have the services of first baseman Kyle Martin in 2015, since Martin decided to forego the professional ranks for one more year and return to Columbia for his final year of eligibility.
Some notable contributors to the Gamecock roster for some time will not be returning however. Holbrook addressed the openings in his roster as well, and talked about a couple of players that may be making a move across the diamond in the future.
Holbrook also elaborated on some new faces heading his way, too, and looked ahead to the schedule for next season and more.
