USC’s rough weekend at Arkansas cost them some ground in the latest baseball polls, but the Gamecocks remain in the top five. USC was 2-2 last week. They beat Appalachian State and dropped two of three in Fayetteville against the Razorbacks. Baseball America dropped them from second to fifth in its latest poll. The Gamecocks are behind Florida State, Virginia, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Cal Polly.
Collegiate Baseball moved USC from first to fourth this week. It has Louisiana-Lafayette, Florida State, and Virginia ranked ahead of the Gamecocks.
Clemson won mid-week games against Furman and Winthrop last week and they split the first two games of a home series with N.C. State. The Tigers will wrap the series up tonight, weather permitting. Clemson moved up two spots to 14th in this week’s Baseball America Poll. The Tigers moved up one spot to 21st in the Collegiate Baseball ranking.
Clemson has a home game with Georgia Tuesday night, then a road series at highly ranked Virginia this weekend. USC will play Furman at Greenville’s Fluor Field tomorrow night; then it’s a home series with Florida Friday night.
