USC will be losing both of their offensive tackles after this season, assuming Brandon Shell announces for the draft as expected, and Sunday the Gamecocks took a step toward filling in those holes with a commitment from Paris Palmer (6-8 330) of Lackawanna JC, PA. His commitment came a day after he visited USC and is the Gamecocks’ third of the week.
“It feels good to say I finally have a home! I just officially committed to The University of South Carolina Gamecocks!!!” is how Palmer put it on Twitter in announcing the pledge.
Palmer is a native of Plymouth, NC and he said Saturday the proximity to his home was a major plus for USC.
“I got that home feeling,” he said. “It’s close to home and easy for my mother to come see me play. And my uncle lives fifteen minutes from the stadium.”
Palmer also has offers from Penn State, Ohio State, Temple, East Carolina, Arizona State, South Florida, Miami and Baylor. He is on track to graduate in December and will have three years to play two.
Palmer is USC’s 7th commitment for the 2015 class.
