Wofford, the Southern Conference Tournament Champion, is a #15 seed in the Midwest Regional and will face number two seed Michigan in its opening game. The winner of that game will face the winner of the Texas-Arizona State game in the next round.
Coastal Carolina is a number 16 seed in the East Regional. The Chanticleers, in the big dance by virtue of a Big South Tournament title last week, will face ACC regular season and tournament champion and number one seed Virginia Friday. A 16 seed has never defeated a number one seed in the history of the men’s NCAA Tournament.
Wofford and Coastal Carolina are the only two teams from the Palmetto State that made the field.
