LB Tevon Coney (6-2 215) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL is getting to know the Clemson coaching staff. After recently receiving an offer from the Tigers, Coney is planning a visit. He is learning about the program and is interested to see more.
“I was talking to my coach today about them, actually,” Coney said. “His wife went to school there. I hear they have a beautiful campus and a great tradition of football. I want to fly up there either this spring or maybe in the summer.”
Since the offer, Coney has been working on getting to know the coaching staff better. “We’re just building a relationship right now,” he said. “Coach (Brent) Venables seems like a real good guy. I know Clemson is a great place but I don’t know if it’s the right fit for me yet. I am looking forward to getting up there to find out.”
Coney says his next visit will come in the next two weeks. He plans to visit either Florida or Ohio State. After he is able to visit several schools, he will begin working on narrowing his list. “I’ll start doing that this summer and will probably commit sometime during the season,” Coney said.
He named Clemson, Tennessee, Ohio State, Florida and NC State as schools he would like to visit. All have offered except for the Buckeyes. Kentucky, Miami, South Alabama, Appalachian State, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Florida International and Western Michigan have also offered. Coney does not have any favorites.
