There was a promotion going on at Colonial Life Arena Saturday calling the game a “Snowstorm with Whiteout Conditions” and for much of the second half it looked like USC was shooting in a blizzard. The Gamecocks shot a frigid 16 percent from the floor in the second half, turning a game that was tied at 34 at the half into an 73-56 blowout in Georgia’s favor.
The Gamecocks shot 5-31 from the floor in the second half, and 15-57 (26.3%) for the game. “Nothing was falling,” freshman guard Sindarius Thornwell said after. He led the Gamecocks with 18 points. Brenton Williams had 16. Reserve Brian Steele had the next highest point total with eight.
As you would suspect, Frank Martin was very irate during the game. In fact, he even got a technical foul in the second half. For all of Martin’s antics during games, he rarely gets T’d up by officials. By the time he came into the media room for his post game press conference Martin had cooled off. You can listen to his comments below. We’ve also got our video recap at the bottom of the page.
