USC freshman righthander Wil Crowe pitched 6.1 innings of hitless baseball in his college debut and his teammates backed him up with 17 hits as the Gamecocks pounded Bucknell Sunday afternoon 12-0 to complete a three game sweep of the Bison. The Gamecocks outscored the visitors 41-6 over the three games.
Crowe allowed only two baserunners (walk, hit batter) and struck out 5 during his outing. He was lifted for fellow freshman Josh Reagan after getting the first out in the seventh. Cody Mincey and Joel Seddon followed Reagan to the mound and the three relievers allowed just one hit.
Kyle Martin led the Gamecock offense with a 4 for 4 day raising his batting average to .778. Joey Pankake had three hits including a solo home run. Max Schrock had a three run blast for the Gamecocks and Grayson Greiner popped a two run homer as well.
For the weekend the Gamecocks totaled 39 hits and committed just one error.
The Gamecocks return to action Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 against Presbyterian at Carolina Stadium.
