USC freshman Sindarius Thornwell scored 11 of his team’s final 17 points and Mindaukas Kacinas tipped in the winning basket with :14 to play as the Gamecocks edged Alabama 67-66 Saturday afternoon at Colonial Life Arena. The win gives the Gamecocks consecutive SEC victories for the first time since January of 2011.
Thornwell finished with 22 points and he kept the Gamecocks in the game as Alabama’s Trevor Releford scored 20 of his 27 points in the final 10 minutes.
The Gamecocks improve to 10-15 overall and 3-9 in the SEC and will play at Arkansas Wednesday night.
