It seems like the colder is better for the USC basketball team. With the snow and ice melting outside, USC beat Vanderbilt 65-59 in a game that was delayed a day because of the bad weather. It’s just the second SEC win of the season for the Gamecocks. Coincidentally, their other league win also came the day after a snow storm. Frank Martin may need to get Jim Cantore on his staff.
Freshman guard Sindarius Thornwell put together another impressive game, finishing with 19 points, six rebounds and six assists. Brenton Williams added 14 points and freshman point guard Duane Notice chipped in 10. Martin was pleased with the energy and effort his team brought to the arena.
The win moves the Gamecocks to 9-15 overall, 2-9 in the SEC. Vandy drops to 13-10, 5-6 in the league. USC’s next game is Saturday at Colonial Life Arena against Alabama.
