Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio? Clemson Sunday went where the Yankee Clipper couldn’t, to 57 in a row. DiMaggio’s all time baseball hit streak made it to 56 games in a row. Clemson’s NCAA record for futility in Chapel Hill reached 57 Sunday night with a 80-61 blowout of the Tigers.
It’s Clemson’s second straight loss during this crucial stretch of the season. The Tigers fall to 13-6 overall and 4-3 in the ACC. The Tar Heels improve to 12-7 and 2-4 in the league.
The numbers in this series are just obscene. The Tar Heels have now won 128 of the 148 games. They’ve won 16 of the last 17 meetings. And they’ve won by double digits in Chapel Hill in 25 of the last 27 games there.
Here’s my recap of the game from the Smith Center:
And here’s video of KJ McDaniels talking to reporters after the game:
Clemson gets this week off and returns to action Saturday at Florida State.
