Kevin Steele will return to the sideline next season. According to multiple reports Steele will take over as Alabama’s linebackers coach, a position he held there prior to leaving for the defensive coordinator post at Clemson. Steele spent last season in an advisory role at Alabama that did not allow him to coach on the field.
Here is how Steele picked up the promotion per NBC Sports:
Alabama secondary coach Greg Brown has stepped down from his position on Nick Saban‘s coaching staff after just one season in Tuscaloosa. Saban’s staff will also see director of personnel Kevin Steele receive a promotion to the on-field staff, filling in as linebackers coach.
Steele was rumored to be in line for the defensive coordinator post at Louisville last week, but he opted to stay put in Tuscaloosa. He obviously had wind that this opportunity was on the horizon.
