For a good portion of Monday night’s BCS title game Auburn defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson managed to do what no one else has this season: slow down Jamies Winston. Johnson’s unit had the Heisman trophy winner flustered and off his game early, but it was Winston who had the final say with an impressive last minute drive that gave the Seminoles the win. Johnson joined us on SportsTalk Wednesday to describe what it feels like to be so close to a national title and come up short (spoiler: it stinks). Even with the sting of defeat still fresh, Johnson gave us a great breakdown of what happened on the final drive and how he felt his guys did throughout the game. He also had some interesting things to say about the experience of playing in the BCS title game and what he thinks about the upcoming playoff. We are big fans of Ellis Johnson. Listen to this interview and you will know why.
