As the Gamecock football season comes to an end, defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward appeared on tonight’s show to discuss his overall thoughts on this season and The Capital One Bowl Game against Wisconsin. Ward also gave some insight as to how the recruiting will go for the upcoming 2014 season.
With some seniors leaving, the defensive team has some spots opening for incoming students. “We definitely want to try to sign at least 3 to 4 corners.” Ward said.
The Gamecocks closed out this football season with an impressive 11-2 record, six-consecutive wins, including three against ranked opponents (Missouri, Clemson and Wisconsin) and ranked fourth in the final Associate Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches Polls announced today.
Ward made a bold statement saying he thinks The Gamecocks could’ve beaten both Florida State and Auburn. “I feel like as a team, we got better as the season went.” he said. “You want to be at your peak when you play your last ball game and I feel we were starting to play as a team and it showed.”
