The drive that Wisconsin started late in the third quarter died at the USC 26 early in the fourth. The Badgers passed on a tying field goal attempt and went for it on fourth and less than one. Gordon was stopped for no game and the Gamecocks took over.
And they went right down the field. The big play was a 49 yard pass from Shaw to Shaq Roland on which Roland made a spectacular, off balance catch between two defenders. Shaw later capped the drive with a 3 yard pass to Jerrell Adams.
The Gamecocks had no time to relax with the lead because Kenzel Doe took the kickoff back 91 yards for a touchdown to cut the lead back to three at 27-24.
USC didn’t flinch and replied with a 9 play, 88 yard drive that Shaw capped with a one yard sneak to put the Gamecocks back up 34-24.
Kaiwan Lewis appeared to have sealed the game for USC with a pass interception at the Gamecock 40, but Brandon Wilds lost a fumble a few plays later at the 48 to give Wisconsin new life. But Skai Moore got his second interception of the game, this one in the end zone with 3:14 left, to snuff out that threat.
The Badgers had one more drive but Gordon lost the ball on a hook and ladder play and Lewis recovered the fumble at the USC 18.
Final score…USC 34-Wisconsin 24
