Three names have emerged as strong contenders for The Citadel head coaching position. According to a source, the three are Air Force associate head coach and offensive coordinator Clay Hendrix, Lenoir-Rhyne head coach Mike Houston, and Navy offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Ivin Jasper.
Former Citadel coach Charley Taaffe, now the offensive coordinator at Central Florida, informed the school earlier this week he would not seek the job according to the Charleston Post and Courier.
The paper reported Citadel athletics director Larry Leckonby plans to interview a member of the current staff who has indicated an interest in the job. The paper reported that’s believed to be offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Bob Bodine.
The Bulldogs are seeking a replacement for Kevin Higgins who is now the assistant head coach at Wake Forest.
