The January 1st Capital One Bowl will be the final game for a pair of USC junior defensive players. Corner back Vic Hampton and defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles have both made their intentions to enter the NLF draft clear, and both are approaching the matchup with Wisconsin with the mindset that it will be the final time the take the field in a Gamecock uniform.
“It is going to be on of those important things in my legacy that I’m trying to leave here is that I left with a ‘W’,” Hampton said after practice Tuesday. “I don’t want to leave with an ‘L’, I want to leave on top.”
Quarles hasn’t completely shut the door on a return and says he is still waiting on his NFL draft grade to come back, but all indications continue to point to a jump to the NFL. “I got everything out of this school and more,” Quarles said when asked to reflect on his time at Carolina. “I juiced it all out and I think I got everything out of this school I ever wanted.”
