DL Dexter Wideman of Saluda continues to struggle with his final decision. He remains committed to Florida State but is still considering USC. When asked if his commitment gave the Seminoles the edge, he said, “I mean…I’m just going to wait and take my officials (visits) and I’ll make my decision after that.” Wideman is sure of one thing, it will come down to these two schools. “Nobody else is talking to me because they know it’s between them two,” he said. Wideman take his official visit to USC January 17th and has not scheduled his visit to Tallahassee. He will receive a visit from Florida State Thursday at his school and expects to schedule his official visit then. USC assistant coach G.A. Mangus has already been by to see Wideman recently. “He just told me that I was looking good and to keep doing what I’m doing,” Wideman said. “We scheduled my official visit while he was here.” With the decision weighing on Wideman, he is trying to turn his focus elsewhere for the time being. “Right now, I’m just getting ready for the Shrine Bowl and the Under-Armour game,” he said. He does not have a leader.

Clemson quarterback target Chase Virgil of Mesquite, TX got a visit last week from Clemson quarterbacks coach Chad Morris who continues to show a great deal of interest in Virgil and his teammate WR Akilian Butler. “He just came out of here to check on me and talk to me a little bit, just to stick his head in basically,” Virgil said. “We didn’t talk that much. We talked about the ball game and when he’s going to come back eventually. It was a good thing for us.” Clemson receivers coach also was in for the visit and spent his time with Butler. Iowa was in to see Virgil Tuesday. “It’s kind of going slow,” Virgil said of his recruiting. “My leader right now? I really don’t have one right now.” He also has offers from Arizona State, UCLA, Nebraska, Missouri, Mississippi State, Texas and Toledo and is not ready to narrow his list to a top five. “To me, all of them are the same. Of course, I’ve gotten out to Clemson a lot more (two visits), so you can see I really like Clemson. But I think other schools will be contacting me a lot more and then I’ll probably start deciding that but right now they are all the same.”
