Clemson quarterback Tajh B0yd has done a lot of incredible things during his career. He’s shattered school passing records, torched ACC records and taken apart teams like Georgia, LSU, Auburn and Virginia Tech. But it is the one thing that Boyd didn’t do that will taint a lot of those great accomplishments, one asterisks that will forever be remembered: No wins against arch-rival USC.
Boyd was denied again Saturday night, and once again his mistakes were glaring. He was stripped of the football on a crucial drive in the fourth quarter and followed that up with two more turnovers in the final frame en route to another loss to the Gamecocks. Fair or not, many people will judge Boyd’s legacy based on his performances against USC. Boyd understands this, and it was clear that failing to capture a win in his final try against the Gamecocks stung Saturday night.
