The Gamecocks open the quarter just as they did the first, with a drive into Florida territory that resulted in a field goal. The biggest play on the drive was a 23 yard pass to Rory Anderson that carried to the Gator 29. The drive stalled at the 27 and Fry delivered on a career long 45 yard field goal to make it a 7-6 Florida lead.
Florida answered that three with another seven with a drive similar to their first scoring drive. The Gators went 75 yards in 6 plays and again threw just one pass. Mack Brown got things rolling with a 32 yard run to the USC 43. Later, facing fourth and 4 from the USC 37, ,the Gators lined up to punt then shifted as if to run a play. Kelcy Quarles jumped offsides to give the Gators a first down. Two plays later, Taylor broke free for 29 yards and a touchdown from the Wildcat formation as he did on his first scoring run. 14-6 Florida.
Late in the quarter the Gamecocks started a drive at the Florida 48 and drove to the 20. They had to again call on Fry but this time he was wide right from 38 yards out. That was the last scoring threat of the half.
Florida leads 14-6 at halftime.
