Clemson has had its share of problems with Georgia Tech over the years, but Thursday night was not one of those instances. The 8th ranked Tigers never trailed and were never seriously threatened in a 55-31 win over the Yellow Jackets. Tajh Boyd passed for 340 yards and accounted for five touchdowns, Martavis Bryant and Sammy Watkins both went over 100 yards receiving, and the Tigers defense rattled Georgia Tech for most of the game. There wasn’t a whole heck of a lot to complain about from Clemson’s standpoint.
“I’m so proud of our guys,” Dabo Swinney said after the game. This was a great win. This is actually three great wins in a row. We’re playing our best football of the year right now.”
Clemson is done with ACC play now, finishing with a 7-1 mark in the conference. The Tigers have Citadel next weekend before heading to Columbia for the season finale against USC. The buzz is Clemson is in pretty good shape to get a bid to the Orange Bowl if they take care of business the next two weeks. A Clemson-Oregon matchup in Miami would be intriguing for sure.
