USC defensive back Vic Hampton was named the SEC’s Defensive Player of the Week Monday. Hampton had an active day in the Gamecocks’ 34-16 win over Mississippi State Saturday. The junior corner back had eight tackles, three pass break ups, and he forced and recovered a fumble. He also deflected a pass that was intercepted by freshman linebacker Skai Moore.The USC defense forced a season high five turnovers against Mississippi State. That is most turnovers the Gamecocks have forced since they had five against East Carolina on September 8th, 2012.
USC is off this week and will return to action a week from Saturday at home against Florida. That will be the final SEC game of the season for the Gamecocks.
