The 11th ranked USC football team is headed up to Neyland Stadium this weekend to take on a Tennessee team that is 3-3 on the season.
It’s been a tale of two seasons for the Vols. They’ve beaten the likes of Austin-Pey, Western Kentucky, and South Alabama for 3 relatively unimpressive victories. Their first two games against top-25 competition didn’t go so well, UT was blown out at #2 Oregon 59-14, and lost 31-17 in the swamp to #19 Florida. Two weeks ago though however, Tennessee seemed to have potentially turned a corner, taking 6th ranked Georgia to overtime before losing that game thanks to a Pig Howard fumble on the goal line.
Tennessee rested up for a week and now welcomes the 11th ranked Gamecocks to Knoxville with a little more pep in their step. Tennessee went blow for blow with the high-powered Georgia offense, even converting on all three of their 4th down attempts.
This week USC defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward is charged with the task of slowing down the Tennessee offense, led by quarterback and Rock HIll native, Justin Worley.
Following Thursday’s practice at the “Proving Grounds” in Columbia, Ward spoke with reporters to discuss this weekends matchup with Tennessee.
